If I remove someone as a friend, will they be notified?

No they will not. There is no such email notification feature available
on Gnommie. However, removing a mutual friend from your network list will automatically make them a fan of yours, and in this respect, users can always tell who you are fans or mutual friends with by looking at the icon under each person's name in the friends list in your profile.
