Can people either individually or as a team use the voting down/against a submission feature to hide other people’s submissions they disagree with?
Negative ratings (i.e. voting down/against) don't actually hide
submissions from anyone else's view. The submissions that you rate negatively will be hidden only from your view. However, even though voting down/against the submission from its "neutral" state will not deduct a vote, it is one of the factors that the Gnommie algorithm takes into consideration when promoting a submission to “Popular”, the Gnommie homepage.
Negative ratings are not meant to be used as a means for personal attacks on a user’s submission(s). Voting submissions up or down is a way for you to tell the world what you think is interesting and a way to allow people to register differences of opinion. Gnommie was built to support a large community with diverse opinions. In any debate of opinion, there are always many points of view. We believe the majority of Gnommie users support this principle and maintain a healthy exchange of opinions.
While we don’t doubt that some users will attempt personal attacks on a user’s submission(s) either individually or as a team, we are confident that the safeguards implemented in Gnommie's algorithm will prevent this from occurring and will not affect the user’s submission(s) potential of making to “Popular”, the Gnommie homepage.
